Leave It

'Leave it'

You are walking in the park or street and another dog is over the other side of the road or further away.   The owner and dog are walking to meet you.

You need to prevent your dog from getting hurt by an aggressive dog, or frighten the owner when it bounds over.

This is a stern command and lets your dog know it is not in charge and must be your servant.

You may need to repeat 'leave it' every few seconds to make your dog concentrate on you and not the other dog.

Listen   'Leave it'

You can also use the command 'that's enough' as well as 'leave it'.

Psychology: Remember, an obedient dog is a happy dog – happy to be a member of your pack.
